a little about where I am coming from. Most people would say that my wife, daughter and myself live in the Sticks. We live at about 8000ft on the Uncompahge Plateau out side of Montrose Colorado. Though I may whine about having to plow snow and clean out our composting Toilet I did chose this life and I am proud to say that we have live off Grid for over 20 years and our hand built home, for what its worth, is free and clear. It was during that same period in my history that I first started driving 4x4 tours out of Ouray Colorado for San Juan Scenic Jeep Tours for the Kuboskies of C.W.McCalls Black Bear Road Fame. Threw out my life I have always been a driver so this job was right up my alley and the idea of taking a bunch of folks up into the most spectacular mountains in this country and have fun with them is hard to beat. I learned a lot of the history in them mountains of how to entertain and deal with tourist in many unusual circumstances and a whole bunch about 4x4ing in the San Juans and beyond. Then a bit over ten years ago I started spending my winters driving skiers the 65 miles over Dallis Divide from Montrose to Telluride and back. Yeah more driving and more tourists. About 5 years ago my old High School buddy bought a vehicle parts distribution business and being he lived on the East Slope of Colorado he soon talked me into running the West end for him. So not only getting to log even some more miles I also got to befriend some of the best mechanics in Colorado which helped expanded my knowledge how to keep your rig running for many miles. Amongst all of this I also became a big fan and Dealer of AMSOIL Synthetic Lubes and devoted myself to helping all extend the life of their vehicles and to continue to enjoy off road adventures into the San Juan Mountains which is my true passion. So let me wrap this up, I have had many years experience keeping vehicle running up and over the San Juan Mountains, skirting around them on slick winter roads, hauling a trailer load of parts all over the Western Slope of Colorado and some of the toughest 4 wheeling I have ever partaken in that I call the commute home. |
