Vehicle.
    Year: 1988
    Make: Chevy/GMC
Model: 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban, seats 8 comfortably with room
    for gear.
This model features the old tried and true  350 c.i.d which
has all the power you could need especially when partnered
with GMs throttle body fuel injection.  The best feature of F.
    I. is that it adjusts to the altitude and because the fuel
actually circulates back to the fuel tank it eliminates vapor
    locking.
A 4 speed manual transmission  is Strong, Reliable and in my
opinion give you a lot more control of the vehicle as long as
you know how to drive a manual tranny.
This model also comes with a New Process chain drive
transfer case, the advantage being that in low range you gear
    way down.
Being a 3/4 ton rating comes with stronger drive line, axle
    housings and heavier springs.
My favorite modification is that I cut out part of the roof
and reinforced it so as to enjoy more of the views looking up,
then built a fold down roof cover for inclement weather.
As far as its off-road ability, sure the length is a little of a
disadvantage on tight switch backs, but that length is often an
advantage getting up rough sections, it is able to push the
front tires past before the rear tire reach it and there is a
lot of flex in the frame that helps the wheels stay on the
ground.  There have been very few places that me and an old
burb can't get into and out of.
