Then and Again Photography Telluride Valley Floor and Mountain Village
A shot of the Telluride Valley Floor and the Mountain Village!
This shot took me just a few to recognize, but yes someone had actually taken a photograph of the Telluride Valley Floor, also looking towards the town of San Miguel, and the town of Telluride Mountain Village and the Telluride Ski Area, then I guess that area was the old Gorono Ranch and the Boomerang road.
I am not sure I hit this location right on the head, I think I should have been closer in towards town, maybe even the Airport Road area, but you get the idea right?
A close up on the Telluride Ski Area and the core of the Mountain Village.
I tried to zoom in a bit on whats now the Telluride Ski Area and the core of what is now known as the Mountain Villiage. You can see that a bit has changed in this shot. I am always amazed how some things change so much and some so very little.
See Ya In The Hills!

From the river’s edge down-valley in the red rock canyon… to beautiful mesas creeping up toward 14,000-foot peaks… to quiet subdivisions… to authentic Colorado ranches… the diversity of homes, lots and acreage offered in the region cannot be found in one county many other places in America. The region offers buyers options that allow them quick and easy access to the Historic town of Telluride and Mountain Village, while expanding their choices beyond the resort area. The region covers the remainder of San Miguel County, the heart of the western San Juan mountains. Because of its large differences in elevation, the San Juan range includes almost every temperate zone found in America… from arid, desert climates to high-mountain tundra usually found only in the arctic. The sun also plays a dramatic part… a south-facing slope can have completely different temperatures and vegetation than a north-facing slope.
At the height of the gold rush, nearly 5,000 people inhabited Telluride, referred to as the “town without a bellyache.” In fact, at the turn of the century, more millionaires (per capita) lived in Telluride than in New York City. The Tomboy Mine was one of the world’s greatest gold producers and contributed to more than $360 million dollars of gold pulled out of the area. The wealth of Telluride attracted the likes of Butch Cassidy, who began his illustrious bank robbing career in town. In 1889, Butch walked away from his first heist at the San Miguel Valley Bank with $24,580, never to be recovered.
Today, Telluride Town Council approved a 2-day festival coming to Telluride Town Park on August 25th & 26th. Not all details have been released… but, KOTO Radio will put on the festival. Telluride’s due for a unique, non-jam band to mix things up. Phish brought 15,000 people to town in August 2010.
THX for sharing.
The saloon-dining hall dates from the original town on this site. In the wild days of the 1880s and 90s this was a booming silver mining area; Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid carved their initials in the bar. Now that same bar has calmed down but has its share of peace, memory, reflection, nature – all as a Colorado Rockies exclusive get-away.
